The History Behind PVCu
The PVCu window was first introduced to the UK in the 1980s as part of the ‘double glazing revolution’. It was seen as a modern, cost-effective way to replace maintenance-heavy timber windows and increase thermal efficiency at the same time. Resurgence replicates the timber windows found on historical properties with the added 21st Century benefits of low maintenance and high thermal efficiency. Under the direction of the English Heritage organisation, properties which are grade listed in conservation or historical areas are bound by a different set of planning permissions than newer properties.
According to Historic England, conservation areas exist to protect architectural and historical places of interest. Article 4 exists to protect the special character or appearance of buildings in those areas.
