Conservatory Refurbishment Transformation | Battlesbridge, Essex
The Mansells of Battlesbridge, Essex said goodbye to their outdated uPVC polycarbonate conservatory roof and internal uPVC cladding, giving their conservatory a brand-new lease of life by upgrading to a Supalite Insulated Tiled Conservatory Roof.
Out with the Old, In with the New
Mr and Mrs Mansell first contacted Greenoak Concept & Design after experiencing serious issues with work previously carried out by another company, who had promised their conservatory would be usable all year round.
Unfortunately, this couldn’t have been further from the truth.
The previous contractor had attempted to “insulate” the existing polycarbonate roof by fixing timber battens to the internal frame, adding a thin layer of bubble-wrap insulation, and covering it with hollow uPVC cladding. This was a quick, low-cost solution that failed to improve thermal performance and did not comply with building regulations.
Sadly, this is something we see far too often, with similar cases occurring across Essex regularly.
The Problem
The Mansells’ south-facing conservatory suffered from extreme heat during the summer and heavy condensation during the winter months. Despite the attempted insulation, the space remained uncomfortable and impractical, leading to blinds being permanently closed and the room rarely used.
They were looking for a genuine solution to transform the conservatory into a comfortable, functional room that could be enjoyed all year round.
The Solution
At Greenoak Concept & Design, we recommended a complete roof replacement using a solid Supalite Insulated Tiled Conservatory Roofing System. The new roof was finished with walnut tiles to seamlessly match the existing house roof, instantly elevating the property’s appearance.
Supalite is the ultimate lightweight tiled roof solution, combining the authentic look of traditional tiles with a stunning vaulted internal ceiling. Each roof is bespoke and fully customisable, with a highly thermally efficient design achieving U-values as low as 0.15—making it one of the most versatile replacement roof systems on the market.
The Result
Internally, the roof was fully plastered to create a true extension-style finish, with LED downlights installed in the soffits to enhance both style and functionality.
What was once an uncomfortable, underused conservatory has been completely transformed into a stylish, practical extension of the home. The Mansells now enjoy a room that feels solid, comfortable, and truly integrated with the rest of the house—without the cost or disruption of a full extension.
A premium result, achieved with the simplicity of a replacement roof.
